Getting your internet video seen among the millions of options on YouTube takes a lot of luck and a little bit of strategy. This is the first of what will be an ongoing series of posts on the topic of YouTube viral video marketing strategies. My first piece of advice for getting your video to go viral (i.e. getting it shared between friends by the thousands and hopefully millions) is to channel your inner Lady Gaga.
Because YouTube is an alternative source of information from traditional media outlets, it celebrates the unique and caters to the short attention span. As such, a video that can push the envelope and let it’s freak flag fly high is the video that will stand out from the crowd. Sure, Lady Gaga polarizes audiences into camps of people who either love or hate her shenanigans. Regardless of your opinion of her, she is hard to ignore– and that’s the best quality I’d say a web video could have if it stands a chance of going viral.
